Welcome

We're a family managed farm just east of the village of Butternut on County Highway F in Northern Wisconsin about an hour south of Lake Superior.

We grow and sell a large assortment of seasonal garden vegetables, focusing our effort on vegetables that more closely match local tastes and demand. Our vegetables are grown using organic insect control and no herbicides. You'll be able to see the freshness when we pick or harvest your order as you wait; but if you are in a hurry you can always call ahead to verify what's available and we'll have everything waiting for you.

We also raise pastured poultry for on farm sale. Our chickens are Cornish Cross birds processed at 8 to 9 weeks of age. They average 6 lbs processed with a range from 4.5 to 7.5 lbs. All our chickens are tender and meaty and have a wonderful taste.

There are two ways to buy our chickens. The first is to order ahead of processing time to be certain of availability. In the Spring we call our past customers and people who have gotten on our sign-up sheet to lock in their order for the year; this year we will be raising 3 batches totaling 500 chickens. As of now, the June batch of 175 is already spoken for. We still have August and September birds left for sale but August is going fast. We've expanded every year for the last 5 years we've been doing this and we've sold out every year.

For pre-ordered birds we do not package them for freezing. They are bagged and labeled as 'Not Inspected' as required for chickens sold off the farm. So if you order several birds, plan to take them home and prepare them for the freezer unless you are going to eat them within a few days. If you have any questions about the freezing, ask Annie when you pick up your birds.

New this year we are offering a second way to buy birds. We are freezing some for late-comers and people with less refrigerator space. We'll be adding an additional cost to pay for the handling, refrigeration, and freezer bags. This service will be available with the August batch unless it sells out. We're expecting this to extend availability of birds through October but we'll see how it goes, we always have people calling for birds after the year ends.

If you love fresh vegetables and great tasting chicken you should give us a call or come on out to the farm. We're pretty much open until the chickens are put to bed at night.
